Aug 5 1946Is the Canadian Maple leaf nothing more than a stylized version of the Fleur-De-Lis? The above Time Magazine covers seams to suggest this!
Is the Fleur-De-Lis in it's turn the bee as suggested by Manly P. Hall (p 269 of "Secret Teachings") connected to Charlemagne and the Merovingian grail bloodlines?

This is quite interesting but the fact that the Fleur de Lis is inside the Maple Leaf probably has more to do with the symbolism of Quebec (represented by the Fleur de Lis) being a part of Canada (represented by the Maple Leaf) than it does intrinsically to just the symbols themselves.
Furthermore do not forget that the man on the cover of the first magazine in then Canadian Prime Minister Louis St Laurent who was from Quebec & the man on the cover of the second magazine is then Montreal mayor Camillien Houde.
Though I do not rule out your interesting analysis: I am just pointing out that there was other more obvious symbolism that was being demonstrated.
Religion wise, it is said that the white lily (lys) flower is the only one that the Christ mentionned. He said : be pure as the white field lilies. (Sorry about that translation from French I'm trying to make) The lily symbol became a royal symbol of the supposedly lineage of Christ through French royalty. When they decided to create a flag for Québec there was a contest in 1948 and the blue flag with a white cross and 4 white lilies was chosen. It is the next step after the royal 3 lily flags for the royalty that came from France. Québec is a peaceful (country) maybe someday pure like white lilies... Is one day another ¨ king ¨ will reign that is going to be based in Kebek?
